I painted a vase with acrylic paint. It came out beautiful but unfortunately i just noticed that some paint splashed on my sofa throws. I would appreciate if you could advise me on how to remove the stain?

Acrylic is a water based paint as apposed to oil-based and can therefore be diluted with water, but it become water-resistant when it dries. Therefore the means of removing the stain will depend on whether the stain is fresh or dried. Good luck!

For fresh stains on fabric

1. Use a dull knife or spoon to remove as much as possible.

2. Blot the stain with an absorbent cloth. Keep the stain moist for best results.

3. Sponge the stain with a sudsy detergent mixture and rinse. Then rub the stain between your thumbs. Rinse well.

4. Repeat step 2 until you have removed as much stain as possible.

5. If the stain remains, blot with nail polish remover on an absorbent cloth. Rinse well.

For dried stains on fabric

1. Brush off as much paint as possible. Then apply soapy water or an acrylic paint and varnish remover.

2. Once the stain has softened, use a dull knife or spoon to remove as much as possible. Test first for colourfastness. Rinse well.

3. See steps 2 through 5 for fresh stains.
